Meet the keynote speakers for NHC2026!

Digital Waters Flagship has invited four incredible keynote speakers to inspire and engage our audience at the Nordic Hydrological Conference in August 2026. DIWA Flagship is organizing the NHC2026 together with the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF).

Keynote Lineup

Simon Stisen

Professor Stisen’s research has focused on the integration of hydrological catchment modelling and satellite remote sensing, focusing on the development of metrics and model optimization frameworks addressing simulated spatial patterns in distributed models. In his keynote, he will discuss the National Hydrological model of Denmark – model development and applications.

SimonStisen

Fernando Jaramillo

Associate Professor Jaramillo focuses on the effects of climate change and anthropogenic activities on water resources and related implications for societies and ecosystems in his research. His methods rely on state-of-the-art remote sensing and hydrogeodetic technologies to study processes and changes in freshwater ecosystems. His keynote addresses the Hydrological Surprises Revealed by Space-Based Observations of Wetlands and Rivers.

Lena M. Tallaksen

Professor Tallaksen has been active within drought research and related international activities for more than 30 years. She has also been awarded for her outstanding contributions to hydrological science and the understanding of extreme weather events. In her talk, she will discuss the Lessons learnt from a career within flow and drought research.

Harrie-Jan Hendricks-Franssen

Professor Hendricks Franssen’s research focuses on coupled terrestrial water, energy, and biogeochemical cycles and uses (integrated) hydrological models, land surface models, and coupled land surface-subsurface models. He will give a keynote on Model-data fusion to improve the monitoring and prediction of droughts with land surface and hydrological models.
