The American Geophysical Union’s conference was organized in New Orleans between 15-19 December, where Digital Waters Flagship members attended.

At the conference, Vice Director of DIWA & Principal Investigator Petteri Alho, Vice-Principal Investigator Hannu Marttila, and Doctoral Researcher Asfand Tehseen shared and discussed innovative research on digital solutions for water systems and climate resilience. The team presented in several sessions that align with the DIWA Flagship activities:

  • H13R: Digital Solutions for Hydrological Process Observations and Water Resource Management
  • H34I: Water and Society: Leveraging Digital Twins, AI, and Other Emerging Technologies to Support Management and Governance of Coupled Human-Water Systems
  • H34I-05:Sustainable water governance & digitalization

Contributions to other sessions:

  • H13R-1329: Environmental impacts of peat extraction site rewetting – Can we make a digital replicate from the restored peatland?
  • H13R-1330: Hydrodiversity: Advancing a Framework to Understand River System Resilience in a Changing Climate
  • H41V-1499: Modelling nature-based solutions for nitrogen and phosphorus reduction in northern agricultural catchment: SWAT+ model and digital tools to help decision making
  • H13R-1327: Climate Change and River Regime Alterations in Arctic Region: Trends, Impacts, and Hydrological Implications
